Yay all exams are over... Finally-!!
I've got 2 certificates
- Sun Certified Java Programmer 1.5
- Oracle PL/SQL developer
You might wonder why I got Java certificate.. ! Most of you guys know me as a MS family developer. C++, MFC, C# ,ASP.NET.. My professional experiences are mostly about C family languages and in Healthcare IT industry.. But when I got here.. I had to grab whatever I could get first with my poor english ;) So I ended up working on Java with Oracle here. But it wasn't the main reason I got Java certificate. That was because my work pays for the exam fee, $400.. haha.. I thought putting one line more in my CV won't hurt much. Anyway I got a little java certificate.. very basic one.. Might try to get higher level one if I keep working with Java later...and if I can get exam fees reimbursed of course.
My personal opinion about having certificates is a bit negative though. It doesn't prove that you are capable of doing the job. I am pretty sure Java guru would fail the exam if they don't prepare for EXAM. It is quite tricky and different from reality. We all work with compilers, API documents and GOOGLE. So in reality, we don't need to memorise all syntax and code examples.. However I have to admit it was a great chance to review whole JAVA fundamental features since I never really studied Java since I was 4th grade at Uni.. ;)
About 2 weeks ago, I was appointed as a senior developer and it is effective from today.. Got back into a senior position in one and half year.. which is good ;) Will be challenging in some areas.. mainly because of ENGLISH :( .. I can pick up computer languages very quickly, but not a real language.. Might need a different brain structure for that.
Anyway.. Cathy is a Sun & Oracle certified senior monkey.. (Please tell me I look like a junior -_-)
